Kase will be retired from duty on Sunday when the K-9 unit is discontinued at the Grand Blanc Township Police Department. Mark Chase, 48, of Flushing, was trapped inside the vehicle unable to breath until six men were able to upright the vehicle before emergency responders came and removed him. "It's just a truck ain't a life. I still got mine so all's good." said Chase who was released the following day with only minor injuries. Open windows caused the car to scoop up mud and water when it rolled into a ditch.

The machine is used to quickly cool cardiac arrest victims, which helps prevent brain, heart, and muscle damage when they are fully revived. The machine is typically used on patients who have suffered sudden cardiac arrest and are able to regain a pulse but not consciousness. The victim is kept cool and unconscious for 24 hours before being gradually warmed and woken up. McLaren has had the $45 thousand machine for about 6 months and has used it on 8 patients.
