  • Matt Dixon | The Flint Journal..Students from Linden High School and middle schools participate in Kids Against Hunger in the high school's gym by packaging meals. About 80 students packed over 10,000 bags of food with rice, soy, dried vegetables and dried chicken. About a third of the bags will go to local food banks and the rest will be used to feed families in other countries and disaster relief programs.

"He was a good kid," said Burns, 37, who helped raise the 23-year-old since his mother died in 1999. "He didn't bother anybody. He was quiet and laid back. He wasn't one of these kids out here doing all this crazy stuff." He is survived by his six-month-old son and his girlfriend. Clifton "Woody" Burns was in his Dodge Stratus when two men in a Black Pontiac Grand Prix pulled up behind the vehicle blocking him in, got out and started shooting.

She finds that they are a great way for kids of all ages to demonstrate what they have learned also a way for kids to read non-fiction and follow directions.

The fish are part of the Salmon in the Classroom program which helps kids learn firsthand about the lives of salmon and their ecosystem. The fish will be released into the Flint river sometime in May.
