The center is one of 33 sites where volunteers and social service workers are counting the homeless in Genesee county. The three said they did come specifically to be counted but did participate in the survey. The count is mandated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the number of people who didn't have a home to sleep in on the night Jan. 26 will be used in formulas that determine funding for local homeless service agencies.

A chimney fell through the roof after an adjacent abandoned home burnt down in late January. In addition to the hole the roof, some downstairs windows were also broken during the fire.  When the house gets too cold, Cooper stays across the street with Liversedge. Cooper could end up homeless after a hearing in April regarding the home which is condemned to be demolished.

The machine is used to quickly cool cardiac arrest victims, which helps prevent brain, heart, and muscle damage when they are fully revived. The machine is typically used on patients who have suffered sudden cardiac arrest and are able to regain a pulse but not consciousness. The victim is kept cool and unconscious for 24 hours before being gradually warmed and woken up. McLaren has had the $45 thousand machine for about 6 months and has used it on 8 patients.

According to police, a male and a female from the pickup were taken to the hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries at the time. The police have three suspects in custody.

  • Matt Dixon | The Flint Journal..Takisha Burns becomes emotional Friday evening during a candle light vigil for her 23-year-old nephew Clifton Burns at his home in Flint where he was killed the night before. "He was a good kid," said Burns, 37, who helped raise the 23-year-old since his mother died in 1999. "He didn't bother anybody. He was quiet and laid back. He wasn't one of these kids out here doing all this crazy stuff." He is survived by his six-month-old son and his girlfriend. Clifton "Woody" Burns was in his Dodge Stratus when two men in a Black Pontiac Grand Prix pulled up behind the vehicle blocking him in, got out and started shooting.

One of twelve originals, the vehicle was developed to display the modern marvels of the time such as microwave ovens, jet engines, stereophonic sound and television. This vehicle and a group of nearly 50 other vehicles toured the country in the 1940s and '50s. The vehicle, built in 1939, is 33 ft. long, 8ft wide, 11ft 7 in tall and weighs about 30,000 lbs.
