Daphne Orr, 13, of Union, NE walks Smoke the donkey at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island Thursday. Smoke was discovered by U.S. Marines in Iraq when he wandered into their camp in 2008. The marines began to care for the malnourished donkey and formed a bond with him. After a long journey, Smoke is now a therapy animal for Take Flight Farms, an animal therapy organization in Omaha.
