A flame from the basket of a hot air balloon piloted by Shane Arends, just outside basket, lights up the scene Saturday evening in at the Nitro Construction and Midwest Telecom yards just south of the Hall County Public Works Department at 2900 W. Arends, of Grand Island and a licensed balloonist, was flying solo when he had to make a landing in town due to shifting winds. He intended on landing in Worms after taking off from Grand Island at Abundant Lift Christian Center on Faidley Road near Highway 281.
