  • Onlookers are illuminated by a police car as it drives away from the scene of a shooting on Dupont Street and Josephine Street in Flint. One male victim was taken to the hospital for a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was in serious condition.

  • Prairie sludge trudge participants started by crawling under a fence as a sprinkler created a muddy puddle at the Stuhr Museum. Over 800 participated in the 2.5 or 7.5 mile obstacle run, the first of it's kind for the museum, which lead contestants through water, mud, and and grass. All proceeds from the event go to the Grand Island Salvation Army and Stuhr Museum.

  • After several hours of fishing, Joe Kline of Flint finally pulls a panfish from the ice on Lake Ponemah in Fenton. Kline is one of a handful to compete in a fishing tournament as part of the 1st annual winter carnival held by the Ponemah, Squaw and Tupper Lake Association.

  • Matt Dixon | The Flint Journal..Rescue workers remove an entrapped woman from a vehicle accident on Clio Road and Carpenter Road Wednesday afternoon. According to police the driver said his brakes stopped working before he collided with a bus. She was the only one injured in the accident.

  • Street performer Johnny "Johnny Jam" Matthews plays guitar on Highway 30 near Eddy Street where a car collided with the A+ Real Estate Pros building and then a fire hydrant around 3:30 p.m. "Too dangerous to jam here anymore," said Mathews who frequently performs in that area. According to police Ahmed Fato was driving the 2005 Nissan Altima and was startled by something behind him causing him to accelerate while leaving the parking lot West of the realty business. Police estimated $500 of damage to the building, $4,000 to the car and over $500 to the fire hydrant which appeared to have been damaged below street level as well. (Independent/Matt Dixon)

  • Grand Island Rural Fire Chief Chuck Hoffman talks to media at the scene of a fire in a neighborhood off Gunbarrel Road East of Grand Island. According to Chief Hoffman none of the occupants of the home were injured but a pet was lost in the fire. The fire destroyed a home and garage at 576 W. Evergreen Lane which is owned by Mike A. Albright.

  • A firefighter's axes are illuminated by a work light at the scene of a barn fire at 606 W. 14 Road near Phillips. The barn had not been used since a tornado in 1980 which moved it from its foundation according to owner Dennis Comer. Firefighters from Phillips and Aurora were dispatched around 8:13 p.m. Mutual aid with tankers and manpower was called for by radio about 10 minutes later and Giltner responded.
